Browse sets, pick one, and swipe to rip open a booster pack. Cards reveal one at a time with rarity-scaled animations and haptics. Every card you pull is added to your permanent collection. A regenerating free pack pool, or unlock unlimited rips with a one-time tip.
No. MTGRip is a simulator for entertainment purposes. No real cards are distributed or sold. Card images come from Scryfall. If you want to buy the real card, tap the TCGPlayer link on any card's inspect screen.
Pull rates are simulated based on publicly available booster composition data for each set. They approximate the real product but are not official. Each set uses its own slot structure and rarity weights derived from the set's published booster sheet data.
A Hot Pack is an extremely rare event (approximately 1 in 400 packs) where every card in the pack is a hit: rare, mythic, or better. You'll know it when you see it. Every slot is guaranteed mythic-or-above.
Roughly one card per pack is foil, a shimmering treatment that shifts color as you tilt the card. Foil pulls are visually distinct throughout the app: a glowing FOIL badge appears on the reveal screen, the pack summary, your collection, and the card inspect view. You can filter your collection to show only cards you own a foil copy of.
Foil cards get a Metal-shader-powered shimmer that responds to motion. In Settings → Card Motion you can choose how the foil moves: Gyro reacts to your phone's tilt, Idle does a gentle automatic sweep, or None turns motion off. You can also tap and hold any card in the inspect view to manually tilt it in 3D. The shimmer respects iOS Reduce Motion if you have it enabled.
The free pack pool regenerates over time. Free users have full access to every set, all collection features, and the complete card checklist. The pack pool is the only restriction.
Any tip tier (Supporter, Super Supporter, or Legendary Supporter) unlocks the same thing: unlimited pack opens with no waiting on the regen timer. The tiers differ only in amount, so pick what feels right. The foil shimmer, gyro tilt, reveal effects, collection tracking, and stats are free for everyone. The tip never gates access to card content.
Go to Settings and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. If you have issues, contact us at the email above.
Three views: Grid (compact thumbnails with duplicate counts), Binder (3x3 page-swipe like a real card binder), and List (detailed rows with name, rarity, price). All views support search, sort (recent, name, rarity, set number), and filter (rarity, favorites, foils).
The Home screen groups sets by what a player would recognize: current Standard rotation, Modern Horizons sets, plane-based collections (Innistrad, Ravnica, Zendikar, etc.), vintage era, core sets, reprints, and the comedy sets. You can search across everything or pick a shelf.
Market prices are sourced from Scryfall. Prices refresh automatically when you view a card if the data is older than 24 hours. These are approximate and may not reflect current market conditions.
Yes, for the most part. All set metadata, card data, and booster composition data ship bundled with the app, so you can browse every set and rip packs offline. Card images and live price refresh require a connection (cached images work offline once downloaded).
Go to Settings and tap "Reset Collection." This permanently deletes all pulled cards, pull history, and stats. Uninstalling the app also removes all data since everything is stored locally.
Almost nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. Your collection is stored locally on your device. The only third-party service is RevenueCat for in-app purchase management, which uses an anonymous ID. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
