Frequently Asked Questions

How does PokeRip work?

Browse Pokémon TCG sets, pick one, and swipe to rip open a booster pack. Cards reveal one at a time with rarity-scaled animations and haptics. Every card you pull is added to your permanent collection. 5 free packs per day, or unlock unlimited rips with a one-time tip.

Are these real cards?

No. PokeRip is a simulator for entertainment purposes. No real cards are distributed or sold. Card images and data come from the pokemontcg.io community API. If you want to buy the real card, tap the TCGPlayer or eBay links on any card's inspect screen.

Are the pull rates accurate?

Pull rates are simulated based on community-sourced data for each era of the Pokémon TCG. They approximate real booster pack distributions but are not official. Each era (Base Set, EX, Diamond & Pearl, Sun & Moon, Sword & Shield, Scarlet & Violet, etc.) uses its own historically accurate pack structure and rarity weights.

What is a God Pack?

A God Pack is an extremely rare event (approximately 1 in 400 packs) where every card in the pack is a rare or better. You'll know it when you see it — the screen goes dark, gold light blooms, and "GOD PACK" appears. Every slot is a hit.

How many free packs do I get?

5 packs per day, resetting at midnight. Free users have full access to every set, all collection features, and the complete card checklist. The daily limit is the only restriction.

What does the tip unlock?

Any tip tier (Supporter, Super Supporter, or Legendary Supporter) unlocks the same features: unlimited pack opens, gyroscope-reactive card tilt, and premium reveal effects. The tiers differ only in amount — pick what feels right.

How do I restore my purchase?

Go to Settings and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. If you have issues, contact us at the email above.

What collection views are available?

Three views: Grid (compact thumbnails with duplicate counts), Binder (3x3 page-swipe like a real card binder), and List (detailed rows with name, rarity, price). All views support search, sort (recent, name, rarity, set number), and filter (rarity, favorites, wishlist).

What are favorites and wishlist?

Favorites (heart icon) mark cards you love. Wishlist (bookmark icon) marks cards you're chasing. Both can be filtered in the collection view. They serve different purposes — favorites celebrate what you have, wishlist tracks what you want.

How does the 3D card tilt work?

On the card inspect screen, drag your finger across the card to tilt it in 3D. Holo and rare cards show a rainbow shimmer effect that follows your touch. Premium users also get gyroscope tilt — just physically tilt your phone and the card responds. You can toggle gyro off in Settings if you prefer touch only.

Where do the card prices come from?

Market prices are sourced from TCGPlayer via the pokemontcg.io API. Prices refresh automatically when you view a card if the data is older than 24 hours. These are approximate and may not reflect current market conditions.

Does PokeRip work offline?

Partially. Sets and cards you've already loaded are cached on your device and work without internet. Opening packs from cached sets works offline. Loading new sets or refreshing prices requires a connection.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings and tap "Reset Collection." This permanently deletes all pulled cards, pull history, and stats. Uninstalling the app also removes all data since everything is stored locally.

Does PokeRip collect my data?

Almost nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. Your collection is stored locally on your device. The only third-party service is RevenueCat for in-app purchase management, which uses an anonymous ID. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Is PokeRip affiliated with Nintendo or The Pokémon Company?

No. PokeRip is an independent fan project and is not produced, endorsed, supported by, or affiliated with Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, or GAMEFREAK.
